As the news portal "ynet" reported, about 1500 people took part in the nationwide protests on saturday evening. The rallies thus turned out to be much smaller than last weekend.
According to the report, demonstrations took place in jerusalem in front of netanyahu’s residence, as well as in tel aviv, beersheba and in the ancient port city of caesarea in front of the private residence of the head of government. "Take it from the rich, not from the people," was read on transparent. Demonstrators chanted: "there is no future with bibi and lapid."Bibi is netanyahu’s nickname. Jair lapid is finance minister, his party is called "jesch atid", which means "there is a future".
Lapid, whose party came second in the january elections as the hopeful of the middle class, wants to limit the budget deficit by cutting spending and raising taxes. The controversial plans of the former television presenter were approved by the cabinet on tuesday.
