I look forward to Winter and to snuggly, fluffy jumpers, coats, boots and beanies. But it also seems to be the season to match the colour of your clothing to the weather: grey, dark, moody and a little dull. One way to add a little colour to that sea of black and grey is by incorporating bold and beautiful colours in your make up.
Make up is such fun.
It is a creative way to transform, accentuate or make a statement. It can define who we want to portray to the outside world: I wear bold, red lipstick to meetings to feel fierce, strong and in control. When I add a coloured eyeliner to instantly get into a fun, playful mood.
Is it all in my head? Maybe. But it is powerful.

Swap your black, grey or brown eyeliner for something a little different: A good guide is to go for the opposite colour on the colour wheel to highlight your own eye colour.
BROWN peepers will shine with a navy or purple liner. Believe it or not: Green eyeliner looks amazing with BLUE eyes and a copper will make those eyes pop even more! If you are lucky enough to have beautiful GREEN eyes: purple or dark berry hues will show them off.

L’Oréal Infallible Sexy Balm, Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lips,
There is no doubt LIPSTICK is the most popular of cosmetics. A few years back, research showed there are between 800 and 900 million lipsticks sold every year in the world. Sufragettes wore RED lipstick as a form of emancipation. And then there is the “Lipstick Effect”: a theory, that even in a recession sales of lipstick go up. The easiest way to treat yourself and make you feel good, is to buy a new lippy. And let’s face it, RED looks so good with black.

Nail polish transforms functional digits in to 10 beautiful gems. Keep them short if that is what you like, but a lick of red or bright polish, really makes them shine.
Nail polish originated in China. Red and black replaced the metallics as favourites of Royalty. The Egyptian’s lower classes painted their nails pale colours where as High Society stained them with henna to a deep red-brown.
Nowadays anything goes. An unexpected, delicious flash of navy or green on the nails, is just as lovely as a traditional fire engine red. And these colours do look so much nicer on short nails.

These are just 3 ways to include some colour in your make up. I haven’t even started on eyeshadows, beautiful blushes or coloured hair!
Be bold. Be brave. Have fun. Try some colour. You might even like it!

Til next time,
Love this post!! I usually hate colour, but I always go for a bold lip if I want to include a little bit of colour, but I love the eye options, I might have to try those next!

Love this! I like adding a pop of colour to my outfits during winter, usually through a coat (I’ve got a red one & a cobalt blue one), or sometimes a top as well. I find dressing in head to toe black quite boring. I’ll usually put a pop of colour on my nails, or lips, or both as well. Switching up your eyeliner is awesome too – I wore a bronze liner as an eyeshadow yesterday & my Mum commented on how my eyes popped.

I usually add colour with a bold lip and nail polish. I’ve yet to try too much colour with eyeliners.

Couldn’t agree with you more Barbe – colour gives me life! In fact I reckon if the world turned black and white overnight, I’d call up in a ball and just die of sadness. Such gorgeous pics of you hon – that last one is a work of art ♥♥♥
