Review and Demo – Marc Jacobs Re(Marc)able Foundation

Marc Jacobs Remarcable Foundation

I am fairly happy with my skin.

It tells a story. It tells of too many happy days in the sun. It tells of acne in my youth that was devastating. It tells of my body going through hormone changes: puberty and early onset of menopause through chemotherapy.

But all in all it is a good skin and it has served me well.

But the uneven pigmentation is driving me nuts. So I am always on the lookout for a good, full cover foundation that hides all the hyper pigmentation, the broken capillaries and more.

My skin at the moment, is dry to normal on the cheeks and forehead but will get oily on the nose area during the day

Some of the full cover foundations I use are Estee Lauder Double Wear Camouflage Foundation and the Kat von D Lock It Tattoo Foundation . They are quite thick and a little drying.  Estee Lauder DW is my favourite because of the lasting power and because it has very little transfer. The other full coverage product I love is the Era Spray Foundation, but I go through that too quickly!.

But the beauty world is abuzz with a new full cover foundation:

The Marc Jacobs RE(Marc)able Full Cover foundation Concentrate.

This is what it says on the Sephora Website:

Finally: foundation coverage that lasts all day long. Get 24-hour wear and flawless coverage in an instant with this ultra-lightweight foundation concentrate. Featuring a revolutionary oil-free formula that contains twice as much pigment as a leading full-coverage foundation, it’s infused with innovative ingredients that completely cover with spot-on perfection. It’s enriched with Marc Jacobs’ patented golden pigments that are wrapped in lecithin—an ingredient that’s biochemically similar to skin—for immediate, effortless blending and a smooth, soft matte finish. This foundation has a one-of-a-kind dot applicator that allows for custom coverage. Just shake, dot, and blend for perfectly-matte coverage.

So what did I think?

The packaging is just gorgeous and the applicator is a little different. The texture is quite liquid and the product is extremely pigmented – a little goes a long way.

It definitely needs a good primer. It tends to move a little on my Tzone during the day. I tried a little sample of the Marc Jacobs Beauty Under(cover) Coconut Face Primer, but it didn’t really work for my skin. It tended to leave my cheeks a little dry.  My Hourglass Mineral Veil primer works perfectly with it though!

So here is how I rate it:

  • Packaging: 9 out of 10
  • Texture/blendability: 9 out of 10. I use a flat top brush, in the video I use the and it works beautifully. A Beauty Blender will work too, but will make the foundation less full coverage.
  • Coverage: 9 out of 10. No need for a concealer, I just layer on the area that needs a little more with a smaller brush.
  • Longevity: 7 out of 10 .  I had to reapply after about 4 hours. This doesn’t worry me, but the transfer on my phone did a little. I had better results when I set it with a powder.
  • Value for money: 8 out of 10. $79 is not cheap, but I will have trouble finishing this in about a year if I use it every day!

I am very happy with this foundation.

It is available from online, or in stores

  1. INCREDIBLE! Man oh man. I sure love me some Marc Jacobs. But, I literally gasped at the price. Dang!

  2. It looks divine! Packaging is gorgeous too. I’m using Maybelline Dream Wonder as my usual, with Vani-T mineral powder for lighter coverage days. I’ve recently picked up the Loreal Lumi Cushion but have only used it once so far.

    1. Sounds like great options. I have picked up a lumi cushion as well. Great concept i like the idea of being able to touch up during the day. Unfortunately the colour is not quite right and i have to add it to my ever increasing drawer of foundations-I-bought-but-never-use. x

  3. Foundations are so darn tricky. I want coverage but I want dewy, and I want it to last without suffocating my skin. Not asking for much hey. I only use a powder on my nose and chin. I’m such a face you her that I tend to rub foundation from these two places before I’ve had my morning coffee, powder helps it to last a little longer. I am looking for a better primer though, I use a MAC one and I’ve tried Napoleon but they don’t have the grab I’m after. Where can I find the one you use Barbe?

    1. Jenni, I buy mine from Mecca. It is my holy grail of primers. Pricey but great. Ask for a sample, the girls are always happy to put some in a little pot for you to try.x

  4. Darlene Curry says:

I tend to hardly ever wear foundation
any more as it seems to ‘runoff’. I am always hot due to menopause and nothing I’ve tried seems to ‘stay’. I also hate that ‘caked on’ look and feel. I’d love a recommendation from you re products that would suit me.

    1. Try the Estee Lauder Double Wear Darlene, they have a light version too if you don’t want it too heavy. It seems to last and last. Eventhough this Marc Jacobs is my new go-to one, in Summer I will definitely use my Estee Lauder one because I am a very sweaty person and that is the only one that stays! x

  5. Coverage looks excellent Barbe, and that’s what I need to cover my freckles aka age spots – pity about the transfer. LOVE watching your videos – they’re always so helpful, and give me lots of ideas as to how to improve my techniques, thanks doll xxx

  6. I so need t get my hands on this. It looks beautiful on your skin. Great demo x

  7. I’m still learning how to apply base + face makeup (I’m okay with eyeshadow I think!). So, I just skip foundation for the moment, and just use some concealer under my eyes and on any red areas.

Loved your rating system. Easy to read and straight forward. Also loved the video. There’s something so relaxing about watching someone apply their makeup 😛
