WASHINGTON (Reuters) – It ends up South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol can sing.
At the end of a joyful supper at the White Home on Wednesday, President Joe Biden, very first woman Jill Biden, President Yoon and his spouse, Kim Keon Hee, moved from the East Space to the State Dining-room for the home entertainment part of the night, a string of expertly carried out Broadway musical numbers.
After Broadway stars Standard Lewis, Lea Salonga and Jessica Vosk sang a handful of skyrocketing pieces, consisting of choices from “Les Miserables” and “Amusing Lady,” Jill Biden revealed an unique repetition: a serenade by the vocalists of the pop tune “American Pie,” a Yoon favorite.
It didn’t end there. When the vocalists ended up, President Biden and President Yoon took the phase and Biden welcomed Yoon, since of his love of the tune, to provide it a try himself.
Yoon did simply that, taking a mic and vocalizing the very first verses of the tune, in English and in tune, while a shocked Biden and a thrilled crowd, consisting of star Angelina Jolie, searched.
” Something touched me deep inside, the day the music passed away,” he ended up, stimulating a standing ovation and loud applause from the audience and the Broadway vocalists, who were still on phase.
Biden informed Yoon he had “no damn concept” he might sing, and after that provided him with a guitar signed by Don McLean, who composed the tune.
